OVERVIEW
The Best Buddies Friendship Walk is the leading walk in the country supporting inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (also known as IDD). Since 2009, more than 150,000 participants in 60 cities have walked to raise awareness for inclusion, friendship, leadership development, and integrated job opportunities for people with IDD. Funds raised at the walks help move our mission forward by funding local Best Buddies programs. Each walk provides a unique opportunity to see our mission in action at a local level. Every dollar raised goes towards making the world a more inclusive, accepting place. PURPOSE The friendship walk has a profound impact in our local communities as participants walk for inclusion, friendship, leadership, and opportunity for people with IDD. Thank you to everyone who showed up to today's meeting. It was amazing seeing everyone's face after that long winter break we just had.
We did do some voting today and we tallied up all the results. From now on out we will be have meetings every other week unless noted otherwise. We wanted our members to have more of a voice when it came to choosing what we do outside of school. From what I(Karen) remember bowling received six or seven votes. Ice skating was 2nd place and tied in 3rd was Movies,Chuck e Cheese’s, Rockin Jump and Pump It Up. We will be going bowling on January 18th from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. The cost is $10 to $15 for the lane and shoes. Food will not be included and the sign up form is: https://goo.gl/forms/Srv4iLYBm5aQi2g72 We will have our second meeting on January 23rd. We will be having art day so if everyone could bring a $5 donation it would help so that we can buy supplies. Please bring the donation by January 18th to Ms.P or Ms.C. We will be going ice skating or to the movies on February 2. More details will be given in the future closer to the event date. We wanted to let everyone know that this is where we will do our weekly updates as well as blog posts. We recommend you bookmark this page and come back weekly to read our blog posts and more. If you have any questions please leave them down below and we will answer them as soon as possible. |
